Description:

These photographs throw light on various aspects of mining activity at the Beacon Perseverance and Reward Mines: bullock teams; mine machinery; buildings and men at work. One photograph shows part of a village of 430 people at Beacon Mine 1896-1900. The photographs include one of the manager's wife and children sitting on the front steps of their residence and a group photograph of schoolchildren at the Upper Bucca Bucca Public School. Beacon Mine is reached via Coffs Harbour.
