Most of this material is comprised of political and administrative correspondences with a particularly strong emphasis on primary industry. These include letters between Mr. Chaffey and primary industry lobby groups, government departments sporting cultural and education organizations and institutions as well as individual constituents. There are also some personal papers which contain both photographs and bibliographical information. William Adolphus Chaffey (1915-1987) was the Member of State Parliament for Tamworth from 1940 until 1973. He was Deputy Minister for the New South Wales Country Party from 1959-1968. At the same time he held the New South Wales Agricultural Portfolio from 1965 to 1968.
