Papers. A collection of notes copied from the journal of H.B.Mackay for the year 1885. These journal entries describe his travels through both Ireland and Bechuanaland. Also included in this material is a copy of a draft of a report sent by Mackay on 21 March 1885 to the Field Cornet of the British Army in Kunana, South Africa. As a member of the Royal Engineers, Mackay was on a surveying assignment beyond the Transvaal border, upon which this report was based.
