Description:

Two letters: the first is from Margaret Anna Vyner to the poet Tennyson, dated (Tumut) River, NSW, 1855 (ts copy), explaining how his poetry comforts her in the isolation of the Australian bush. The second is from H.W. Vyner to his family in England, dated 'Marengo', 23 August 1887 (photostat copy of original ms), describing daily work patterns on this pastoral station about 75 miles from Armidale (includes a few small sketches). Also included is a pen-and-ink drawing of the Vyner family's homestead 'Muncilidcenula', Tumut, NSW, dated 11 March 1845. It is initialled 'K.M.J.' in the bottom right-hand corner.
