Description:

A very complete and well kept set of account books of a major pastoral station in southern Queensland. Includes: general ledger (1 vol.), 1882\1883; ledger (57 vol. ), 1882-1939; journal of accounts (3 vol. ), 1882-1885; wool books (6 vol. ),1882-1886 and 1901-1933 ; business letterbook (2 vol.), 1936-1946; and an undated library catalogue (1 vol). In 1895, 'Welltown' is recorded (Australasian Federal Pastoral Directory) as belonging to Loughlin & Co., And carrying 146,743 sheep and 1,813 cattle. By 1925 (and possibly earlier) it was owned by W. Leonard & Sons and carried only 35,555 sheep and 517 cattle. 10 ft. (70 vol.).
