Armidale Mutual Help Benefit Building Society (1895 - )

On 15 March 1895, during a meeting of interested parties, The No. 1 Armidale Starr Bowker Benefit Building Society was formed. Its goals were to "…raise a fund from which its members may receive advances for the purchase of freehold property land or buildings or for the erection of houses to be repaid by weekly instalments to be secured by mortgage to the society until such advances are paid…" The society changed its named to the Armidale Mutual Help Benefit Building Society on June 15, 1897.
