Lowe, Charles Bruce (1845 - 1894)

Born: 4 January 1845  'Deptford', Clarence Town, New South Wales.  Died: 27 October 1894  St. James Square, London, England.

Lowe's family were descendants of a French Huguenot family which emigrated to England in 1685.

Bruce trained as an accountant after finishing his schooling and became well known as an international stock agent specialising in race horses. He introduced the Australasian stallion to world thoroughbred breeders.

He travelled widely in England, America, Australia and New Zealand inspecting stud farms. He was famous for developing The Figure System, an authoritative guide to the breeds of racehorses, published in 1895.

He suffered poor health, including ailing eyesight and possibly diabetes and died from pneumonia in 1894.
