Water and Sewerage Employees Union, Salaried Division (1919 - 1987)

Archival Resources

A Salaried Officers' Association was formed in 1916 by employees of the Metropolitan Board of Water Supply and Sewerage. In 1919 the Association became the Salaried Division of the Metropolitan Board of Water Supply and Sewerage Employees' Association and was registered as a separate union under the NSW Trade Union Act. The Division represents salaried employees of the Metropolitan Water, Sewerage and Drainage Board and is divided into clerical, general and professional sub-divisions. The general administration of the Division is supervised by a paid secretary with the assistance of an industrial officer. Overall government of the Division is by an elected Committee of Management. On 1 June 1984 the Division became part of the Municipal Officers' Association (MOA) NSW Branch in a merger involving three unions, the Water Sub Branch, Maritime Sub Branch and the Energy Sub Branch.
