Illawarra Coalition of Resident Action Groups (1973 - 1977)

Archival Resources

Constitute of delegates from various resident groups throughout the Illawarra region, the Illawarra Coalition of Resident Action Groups [CRAG] is a community-based movement which grew out of opposition to proposed high-rise housing development in the northern suburbs of Wollongong during 1973. The aims of the group were widened to include concern for all aspects of the future development of the region. CRAG has been particularly concerned with achieving greater opportunity for public participation in the planning process at both local and state government level.
