Post, Hans & Lydia

Location: Berkeley, New South Wales

Hans and Lydia Post emigrated to Australia from Germany in 1959 and settled at Berkeley near Wollongong. The Posts joined the NSW Humanists Society in 1965 and for a time, Hans was president of its Illawarra branch and Lydia its treasurer. The family was involved in a number of organisations dealing with social welfare including the Workers' Education Association and the Family Planning Association. Both Hans and Lydia Post were members of the Australian Party and the Referendum Movement of Australia. They were both active in the Anti-Vietnam War campaign and the women's movement. Lydia Post died in 1975.
