First Wollongong Scout Group (1966 - 1977)

Archival ResourcesImage(s)

The First Wollongong Scout Group was part of the Keira District of the South Coast and Tablelands area in 1977. It is one of the oldest established in the Illawarra. Although now drawing boys mainly from the inner north-western suburbs of Wollongong, it previously had many members from the city’s newer, wealthier areas such as Mt.Ousley, Mt. Pleasant, Keiraville and Figtree. In 1977 it controlled land and buildings of above average value for SCTA groups and was the first in Wollongong to purchase and operate its own bus.
