Hill End Storekeeper

Archival Resources

An account book of an unidentified storekeeper in the Hill End district of New South Wales. The book provides a record of the date, cost and type of commodities purchased by credit customers at the time. Accounts were tallied monthly and the date on which they were paid was noted. Most accounts were paid in cash, although a few were paid in kind. Purchases were mainly grocery and clothing items. Customers were not listed in alphabetical order. The volume has also been used as a school exercise book and a number of pages have been defaced or mutilated.
