Description:

The reminiscences of Mr E.L. Bates entitled 'River which trended northward' (1966); These describe his childhood years spent on a property called 'The Plain' at Caroda in the Bingara District of NSW 1905-1916 (Typescript copy). A further accession deposited by Mr Bates in 1976 contains approximately 131 letters addressed to him at Eccleston NSW during the period 1940-1976 mostly from his younger sister Nancy (Anna) living in Maitland Street and later Cunningham Street Bingara.
