Description: | Documents dealing with the management of the estate of George Every (died 15 July 1904). He owned a sheep farm a few miles out of Glen Innes, known as 'Cherry Tree Hill'. The farm and the Imperial Hotel in Glen Innes, with which he was associated, were both leased by his family after his death. The correspondence of W.S. Johnstone (executor and trustee) with lawyers, members of the Every family, the lessee of the farm and others, covers 1904-1911 and 1917-1935; and various account books, including a ledger, cash and receipt book, cheque butts and bank books, cover 1904-1957. There are also detailed plans of the hotel by Chapman, architect of Inverell (n.d.) and some correspondence and receipts regarding conditional purchase in Bombala, 1881-1922, by Mary Armstrong . |
