Most of these records comprise the minute books, ledgers and annual reports of the Macleay River Co-operative Dairying Company. However, a proportion of the material is made up of the Hastings District Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd. Minute books and ledgers for the years 1929 to 1945. In 1945 the Macleay River Co-operative acquired the assets of the Hastings District Co-operative and by doing so, amalgamated the two companies. Due to the lack of identifying features in some of these records, it has been difficult to determine whether they belong to the time period when the two separate companies existed or after the amalgamation occurred. Therefore, care should be taken when attributing information contained in some of these records unless the evidence is such that a positive identification can be made.
