A typescript copy of the diary of Emily Eliza Royle, which was begun on the occasion of the family's departure from England to Australia on 17 November 1880. The diary not only describes the fifty-three-day trip to Melbourne aboard the SS Kent but continues for another six months as the family settles into life in Australia. The last entry of this diary is on 1 June 1881.
