A sketch of the history of settlement of Tenterfield prepared by the Department of Lands for the Tenterfield Historical Society, initialled B.T.D., and dated 23 December 1940; notes and source references on early settlement; a copy of a Lands Department report on the question of early settlement (n.d.); A list of early settlers taken 'from an old parish map impression of Bolivia Station', 1939; and T.G. Hewitt's reminiscences of Tenterfield in 1852, entitled 'After Fifty Years' (typescript copy of an article published in the Northern Star, Lismore, 15 February Circa 1902).

A varied collection of material from the Tenterfield District Historical Society dating from 1835 to 1958. Included in this material are the records of the Tenterfield District Historical Society, itself, as well as numerous pamphlets, articles and brochures about the Tenterfield District and its history. The collection is also enhanced by the correspondences of both the Historical Society and individuals in the area throughout this time period.
