Description:

Business records. The earliest of the Waverley records is a copy of a Memorandum of Agreement re sale of land, dated 28 May 1914, by which the property passed from the ownership of H.L., A.G. and V.M. White to that of Stephen and Frank .M. Payne. There are the usual station accounts. Ledgers, cashbooks and journals cover the period 1914-1947, and there are wages books for 1930-1941. The balance sheets and profit and loss accounts for the partnership of S. & F.M. Payne are complete for the years 1918-1958 (with the exception of 1949 and 1956). Also bankbooks (1918-1947); chequebutts, 1934-1960 are included. Shearing tally books and wool-weight books are held for the period 1934-1960. In addition to the 'Waverley' records, there is an notebook kept by Charles A. Green (who ran the Post Office and general store in Gundy) recording receipt of stores from the Post and Electric Telegraph department (1892-1919). The same volume was used as a Poisons Register (1927-1936) by Wilfred Green who had by then taken over the general store at Gundy (cf. A159 for earlier records of the Payne family).
