The record group consists of (i) pastoral records relating to the day-to-day running of the sheep station "Terrible Vale" at Kentucky, near Armidale from 1840 to 1916; these records include wool books (10 vol.), 1848-64; ledgers (7 vol.) 1877-1907; a private ledger (2 vol.), 1894-1916; sheep returns (7 vol.) 1876-1907; a letterbook (press-copies), 1886-1912; also rations, stores and wages books. (ii) legal papers and related correspondence concerning the purchase of "Terrible Vale" from R.R. Mackenzie by William Tydd Taylor and Richard Middleton, and the subsequent dissolution (in 1843) of the latter partnership; also papers re boundary disputes and many other matters. Lists are available in the Archives for both categories of record.
