Armidale and District Historical Society (1959 - )

Location: Armidale, New South Wales, Australia

Following a meeting of the Armidale Folk Museum Committee in August 1959, the idea of forming a Historical Society was formulated. An inaugural meeting convened on November 3, 1959 where it was resolved that those present would constitute themselves as the Armidale and District Historical Society. The first meeting of the new society was held on February 15, 1960. This vibrant organisation continues to meet, providing a forum for discussions and debate.
