At a public meeting held in Tweed Heads on 14 December 1918, as group of twenty-three persons meet to consider forming a limited liability company designed to improve the interests of local fruit growers. Following several additional meetings, the Tweed Fruitgrowers’ Co-operative Company Limited was formed. In 1932, the company changed its name to Banana Growers’ Co-operative Company (NSW) Limited and eventually became known as the Banana Growers’ Federation Cooperative Limited. |
