Berry Agricultural Association (1888 - 1932)

Online ResourcesArchival Resources

The Berry Agricultural Association evolved out of the Broughton Creek Agricultural and Horticultural Association which had been formed in 1883. The transition occurred in 1890 when the Broughton Creek and Bomaderry Municipal District was renamed the Berry Municipality. The Association sought to encourage the development and better management of agriculture, horticulture, dairying and other industries. The improvement of livestock was a primary objective. To this end, the Berry Cow Testing Association of dairy herds was formed in 1908 with the purpose of encouraging the improvement of dairy herds and milk production.
