The Keiraville Mechanics' Institute was established in 1899 to foster improvement in the general and technical educational standards of working men in the district. To this end the trustees of the Institution provided library facilities and organised lectures on various subjects. The growth of state-financed technical education led to a decline in the use of the Institute. In order to survive, it became a general community hall used for school concerts, dances and as a drill hall during successive world wars. |
