Description:

Diaries and business records. The diaries record the everyday events of life on a sheep station giving an account of work in progress as well as details of family life. Some of the early diaries include shearing tallies showing dates names of shearers employed and the numbers shorn by each. The tallies are for 1884, 1885 and 1897 and all relate to Jindabyne station. Born in Devonshire England in 1843, Edmund Cuthbert Body came to Australia with his father (F. E. Body) in 1850. He married Catherine Campbell of Inverell in 1880 and subsequently took up 'Jindabyne' station near Mt. Kosciusko. After twenty years he sold 'Jindabyne' and in partnership with his sons owned 'Strathbogie' 'Ulupna' and 'Mole Vale' in the New England region.
