Brindley Park

Pastoral Station entry
University of New England and Regional Archives, Heritage Centre

[Repository details]
Reference:A0136
Date Range:1877 - 1897
Description:

This accession is from the pastoral property of J.B Bettington in the Upper Hunter district and contains only two volumes. Viz. (i) Station Journal of Accounts (1877-1882 & 1891-1897); and (ii) Station Diary 1887. The gap in the Journal for 1882-1891 is unexplained. The diary (probably penned by Bettington himself) contains quite detailed references to the daily business of the station. The writer also has occasion to remark upon the weather horse-racing and his current state of health.

Formats:2 vols

Reference:A0229
Date Range:1831 - 1862
Description:

Contains miscellaneous accounts (1831-1851); a daybook (1838-1862) and a station diary (1878). These relate to the Bettington property 'Brindley Park' in Merriwa. The earlier account book has wages rations and slop accounts; shoemaker's and blacksmith's accounts; wool weights; sheep slaughtered and sheep sent to the Castlereagh and accounts of goods lent to and borrowed from other gentlemen in the colony. It is clear from the records that the property was being worked with the help of a considerable number of assigned servants.
