Cunningham, Allan (1791 - 1839)

Born: 1791  Wimbledon, Surrey, England.  Died: 1839  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Born in England in 1791, Cunningham arrived in Australia in 1816. He accompanied Oxley on a journey of exploration west of the Blue Mountains to the Lachlan River where he collected botanical specimens for his research.

Cunningham briefly held the position of colonial botanist, but is best known for his exploration and discovery of Pandora's Pass, the Darling Downs and Cunningham's Gap.
