Born: 31 January 1855 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Died: 1945 Woollahra, New South Wales, Australia. | |
Mary's parents came to Australia in about 1846, her father being appointed Civil Crown Solicitor from 1850 to 1858. Her early schooling in Sydney was undertaken by governesses, one of whom subsequently set up a school in Darlinghurst Road, which Mary and her siblings then attended. At 16, Mary went to school in Switzerland. Upon her return to Australia, she lived at Elizabeth Farm, Parramatta. She met her future husband, Captain William Moseley, on Good Friday 1876 and became engaged on 9 May 1876, three weeks later. They married in St John's Church, Parramatta on 25 July 1876. Mrs Macarthur Onslow sent flowers from her garden at Camden Park. In 1877 she and her husband travelled to England, where they lived for ten years.
