Smith, Harry Avery (1860 - 1943)

Born: 19 July 1860  Cornwell Park near Grafton, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 1943  Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia.

Smith's grandparents emigrated to Australia in 1835 and settled on the Hunter River before moving to the Clarence River district. He was educated at Grafton Public School then worked on the family property at Cheviot Hills (now Drake) near Lismore, which he managed for many years from 1878.

In 1886 he married Alexandra Stewart and in 1889 took over the Rocky River property known as Wonglebung, where they lived until 1896 when they purchased Aldershot, near Tenterfield.
