Born: 1892 Wingham or Taree, New South Wales. Died: 7 June 1976 Petersham, New South Wales. | ||
Dennes was born to Francis and Christine Dennes and was described as a native of Wingham. From 1913 he occupied a position with the Customs Department in Sydney but by 1923 had transferred to the Australian Institute of Tropical Medicine in Townsville. In 1937 he was at Sydney University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He was one of the foremost authorities on the early history of the Manning Valley, building up an extensive and well-indexed set of records of early events and personalities as well as interesting documents and relics of the past.
