Born: c. 1860 Methven Park, Uralla, New South Wales, Australia. Died: c. August 1943 Rocky River, New South Wales, Australia. | |
Eldest son of William and Isabella Cleghorn, William G. Cleghorn was apprenticed to a Uralla iron founder for many years and later worked in mining and engineering. He operated an engineering business at Inverell and Glen Innes and managed mining shows from time-to-time. He took a dredging lease at Watsons Creek and personally turned out brass and steel castings and repairs to the engines in the large adjoining workshop. He married Hannah Young of Rocky River and they had five sons and three daughters. [Brief Biography compiled by Robin Hammond, January/February 2004] |
